At the Winter Olympic Games in 2014 an act of selflessness and generousity made as much news as a medal win.
Canadian Speedskater Gilmore Junio gave up his spot in the men's 1,000 m race to teammate, Denny Morrison. Denny Morrison had an excellent chance of winning a medal in the event, his best (except for the fall in the qualifying race.) The Canadian team wanted to win as many medals as possible, so Junio made the tough decision of using the limited resources (spots in the 1,000 m) to best achieve the team's goals. It was a gutsy decision, made with true team spirit.
If Gilmore Junio can surrender an opportunity to compete at the Olympics to better achieve the goals of the team, what can you do? What Olympian efforts can you give for the good of the whole?
