You can't hide when you are a leader! Your employees see what you do every day.
To keep employees, lead by example!
Bryan (not his real name) was a "teller."
You know the kind of leader I am talking about - always telling people what to do but not taking his own advice. When Bryan's organization instituted 360 degree feedback he was shocked when his feedback said he wasn't a good leader. Bryan thought by reading the latest book or article on leadership and telling people about it he was leading.
Leading is about setting the example of expected behaviours through what you do every day.
If you want your employees to accept feedback, then ask for feedback from them and model how to accept it graciously.
If you want employees to be creative, then offer some "off the wall" solutions for discussion.
A leader sets the culture for their area through what they do, what they reward, and what they say.
Create a culture where employees are trusted, challenged & valued and you won't have to worry about losing your employees. Your leadership by example will make them want to stay.
