Unresolved customer and employee complaints is a major downfall of leaders according to Forbes' magazine article, "The Seven Habits of Spectacularly Unsuccessful Executives."
Instead of listening to employee concerns unsuccessful leaders give the message "get with the plan or leave."
Employee complaints can give leaders an insight into possible problems and therefore, should be listened to. Leadership should work with their staff to solve issues instead of silencing dissent.
Through differences of opinion, a team can create innovative solutions that include possible issues. Leveraging diversity saves the organization money because staff are not leaving and unforeseen circumstances are considered.
It is easier to ignore customer and employee complaints but excellent leaders value differences of opinion.
