Strategic Thinking is rarely taught in schools, but is important in our ever changing, chaotic world.
But how do you learn Strategic Thinking?
Some people naturally think of the big picture and the future.
Others naturally think of the details - which is what we are often taught in school.
Are we stuck with one kind of thinking style? No we don't need to remain using our current thinking style.
Strategic Thinking can be learned. I have a mathematics degree, which is very analytical, not strategic, but I learned strategic thinking and use it every day. I use the Systems Thinking Approach to keep myself out of the details and focus on the whole first.
As a leader, you can help your organization by thinking of the big picture first, and then the details.
Interested? I teach Strategic Thinking and coach leaders (especially technical leaders) how to be more strategic.
