As a leader, you have the opportunity each day to improve employee loyalty and reduce turnover.
You can do this by reminding your staff that you appreciate their contribution.
Employees often leave because they do not feel valued.
The costs associated with replacing the knowledge that just "walked out the door" are more than leaders realize - often 2-3 times a person's annual salary.
Leaders pass up opportunities to make employees feel valued because they are busy, or don't know what to say or how to say it.
Your employees are not looking for perfection from you. They are looking for a little recognition for their efforts.
These comments do not have to be anything large - you might not even remember them, but the person who received the comment will remember it!
Spending a few moments acknowledging your staff's contribution decreases turnover and increases employee loyalty which lead to improved results.
This video is an example of Everyday Leadership - a comment that was made that the leader didn't remember, but had an impact on the listener. Click here to view: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVCBrkrFrBE
Giving feedback and recognition does not come easily or naturally for every leader. It is a skill that you can learn and practice, so that it becomes easier over time.
