Great leaders continually scan the future environment so that they are prepared for possible changes. Once you identify some possible trends, you should think about whether these trends will impact you, when they might reach you and what your reaction to them will be.

1. Diverse To The Nth Degree – Your workforce is more a tossed salad then a homogeneous melting pot. You will have full-time, part-time, consultants. They will be of many generations and ethnicities with different communication styles, work habits, values, behaviors, strengths and skills.
2. Social And Mobile, Or Dinosaur? – Websites are passé, social media is everything. To attract new employees you need to play the social and mobile game.
3. The Cloud and Big Data – New analytical tools can be harnessed to help you make difficult decisions.
4. Trust Me: The New Employer / Employee Alliance – Loyalty to an organization is out. Loyalty to self is in. Keep your employees engaged or they will leave even sooner than planned.
5. Straight To Video – User-friendly videos are an important tool for attraction, retention, sharing culture, and sharing the vision.
