Lead

Many micromanagers are control freaks.

They think they have to be involved because no one can do it as well as they can.

Inc Magazine published "8 Signs You're a Control Freak".

In part, the article said that you are a control freak if:

  • You micromanage others to fit your expectations.
  • You judge others' behaviors as right or wrong.
  • You have a difficult time with ambiguity.

Instead of micromanaging others, realize that the only control you have is over yourself.

Ideas to let go of control include:

  • Be realistic about your expectations of others.
  • Be direct with people.
  • Accept that there will always be unknowns in life.

Micromanagement is a way some people have learned to lead. It is also possible to learn how to be a strategic leader.

Want to be less of a micromanager? Want to be a strategic leader?
