I am deliberately using Strategic Management and not strategic planning.
Strategic Management is much more than just planning!
Strategic planning is defined as the organization's process of defining its strategic direction and making decisions on activities and resources to pursue this direction.
It is often considered to be separate and independent from the business of the organization.
Strategic Management is a systems approach to running your business day-to-day.
Strategic Management incorporates strategic thinking and strategic planning into the the everyday, ongoing progress of the organization. Making it the backbone of how the organization manages its business and executes its plans.
It includes being strategic in both your planning and managing the changes associated with implementing that plan throughout the year.
Using Strategic Management means that you and your team make regular and strategic decisions to effectively implement the strategic plan.
With Strategic Management you can be agile and resilient. Which establishes you ahead of your competition.
Strategic Management can be used at organization, department, and team levels.
Strategic Management gets your leaders, employees and other key stakeholders aligned behind the same goals. These goals are cascaded to all levels of the organization to drive the day-to-day work.
